During the winter ski season most of the tour operators organise a 'pub crawl', usually on the Monday night. They take you to some, but not all, of the bars and clubs in Arinsal to give you an idea of what the places are like and where they are. But more often than not, the morning after most people don't remember either of those two things! Some don't even remember
who they are or where they are! Reps, for various reasons, have their 'preferred' bars that they will undoubtedly recommend to you - possibly as being "the best in town". But what one person considers "the best" will differ to your
opinion of "the best". However, in this case the "best" is this piece of advice; visit as many of the bars for yourself and make
up your own mind - in Arinsal there is genuinely something to suit everyone.
Depending upon the day of the week bars can either be very busy and crowded or relatively quiet. Monday nights are
usually very busy because of the 'Pub Crawl', whereas Tuesday nights can be quiet, because of 'the night before' syndrome!
Most of the bars organise their own activities during aprés ski and also throughout the evenings. Find out from
your Rep which bars have organised entertainment and on which days or nights, or better still have a look at the arinsal.com "Events Calendar" for a complete and unbiased list of activities both within Arinsal and also throughout the whole Principality.
Children are allowed in bars without problems but preferably with parents. The legal drinking age in Andorra is now 18
years old. Obviously, later at night, some bars may get a bit crowded and possilby the clients a bit rowdy. So, to all you
Mum's and Dad's out there, discression is advised where your children are concerned.
A word of warning: Alcohol is usually consumed in copious amounts when on holiday anywhere in the world. Here, it's no different - apart from the altitude! The village of Arinsal is about 1,500 meters (or about 5,000 feet) above sea level. We all know that
alcohol effects differet people in different ways. These effects are exaggerated at altitude! You may be able to drink 15
pints back home and still complete The Sun crossword, but here you could be under the table after just 2 beers and not even be able to spell 'The Sun'! Also, if
you're on the shorts, take great care! It's free-pour over here - spirits are not measured. Most bars serve the
equivalent to either a tripple or quad (ie: 75-90ml). So, don't bother to ask for a double - there'd be no room for the
mixer!
When leaving the bars and clubs at night, please be considerate of the other people in the village and also in your hotel or apartment block. Don't go round singing at the top of your voice or damaging property - it gives tourists a bad name! Or should that be "It's already given tourists a bad name"? Even though you may not see a police presence, they're there! So, be warned! If you cause a disturbance in the street, you may very easily find yourself spending the night leaning against other types of bars!
